Just Checking Out My Wobbly Legs
Thank you for your great reception to my newness. Your warm welcome and responses have encouraged me to continue with that learning curve I am exploring. I'm feeling like a puppy just checking out his legs-you know, sort of wobbly and walking sideways. It has been a long and cold winter here in Alcona County, Michigan. As Scott Pederson noted in his recent blog, the promise of spring is slowly bringing in new business and causing the phones to ring a little more often, so take heart. Michigan is a beautiful state. Not only do we have the Great Lakes but also smaller inland lakes abound everywhere. One of the benefits of being a Real Tourvision Virtual Tour provider is that I get to photograph beautiful homes in spectacular locations. However, as you might imagine, winter shoots occasionally come with unique problems. I used my tripod for a walking stick in a shoot I did last week in the town of Au Gres for one of my best clients. The sad part is that with all the snow and ice, we really couldn't show off the lake and shoreline. We solved that problem by adding a couple of snapshots the owners provided. Two weeks ago, a new client had me photograph a home in Hillman, Michigan with a very long sloping driveway. This happened a day or two after we had experienced an ice storm. In order to hide my car for the photographs, I parked way down at the bottom of the drive. You guessed it, the homeowner was a southern gentleman so he volunteered to drive my car up the hill but he couldn't quite make it on his own. His visiting friend had to physically push the car to get it up and going. Of course, all of this will soon be over and before long we will all be complaining about the heat. It is time to be signing off. My hubby is checking the maple trees he tapped and I want to have a warm dinner waiting when he returns. (Now, don't faint, he cooks for me when I am out doing tours so a turnaround is only fair play!)
